The Tijuana Xolos will host León this Friday to kick off Matchday 2 of the 2026 Apertura Tournament, in a game that will also feature a special tribute to Gilberto Mora and Jackson Porozo for their participation in the recent World Cup.
The match is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., with the Tijuana team coming into the game motivated after kicking off the campaign with a convincing 3-1 home victory over Tigres.
Following that win, Tijuana will look to capitalize once again on its home-field advantage to secure its second consecutive victory and remain near the top of the standings early in the season.
On the other side will be a León team in desperate need of points, after starting the 2026 Apertura with a 3-2 loss to Atlas—a result that left them without any points on the first matchday.
Recent history also favors the border team. In the last five matchups between the two clubs, the Xolos have recorded three wins, one draw, and just one loss.
The match will also mark Javier Gandolfi’s return to Tijuana, now as León’s head coach. The Argentine is remembered as one of the iconic former players of the red-and-black club.
Before kickoff, the Xolos will honor Gilberto Mora and Jackson Porozo, who represented Mexico and Ecuador, respectively, during the last World Cup.
