An all-out Samba star performance sees Brazil secure 1st place in Group C, with the Selecao showing Scotland why they are one of the biggest threats at this summer’s World Cup.
Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior bagged a brace, and Manchester United star Matheus Cunha added another to complete a comfortable victory over Scotland. Brazil should face a rather straightforward side in the Round of 32, with Japan or Sweden expected to be their opponents. However, both opponents are more than capable of making this a complicated fixture for Ancelotti.
Once again, Vinicius Junior grabbed the headlines with a wonderful brace as the Brazilian star continues to enjoy a glittering World Cup campaign. Ancelotti has brought positional discipline, structure, and an improved defensive shape, which has made it more difficult for teams to hit Brazil on the counterattack.
Along with tactical improvement, Ancelotti has managed to get the best out of his stars. Players like Vinicius Junior can operate in their assigned zones, allowing them to have a lot of freedom on the pitch. It would not be an understatement to say that the Italian manager has managed to get Brazil out of their slump after a poor couple of years, where they finished in 5th position in the CONMEBOL qualification.
Scotland’s position in this World Cup hangs by a thread after their 3-0 defeat to Brazil. Scotland was never backed to finish in a top two position in their respective group, but they should have more than enough to finish in the top 8 of the third-place teams.
Scotland are making their first appearance in the World Cup since 1998 and will now need a glimmer of hope from other results around to continue their 2026 campaign.
