Liga MX returned last weekend with all 18 teams in action for the opening fixture of the 2026/27 Apertura season. All nine games ended with a team on the winning and losing side, with none ending in a draw. Matchday 2 fixtures begin midweek, with Cruz Azul hosting Puebla and Toluca hosting Pumas.
Cruz Azul vs. Puebla
Both teams won their opening match and will be heading into tonight with momentum. Cruz Azul began the season with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against Atlético de San Luis. Right-back Jeremy Marquez scored two late goals to secure the win. Puebla secured a 1-0 victory against Juarez, earning their first three points of the season. Cruz Azul have won the last two matchups vs. Puebla, with a 1-0 win for Los Celestes back in January.
Toluca vs. Pumas
Toluca and Pumas were on opposite sides of the spectrum this past weekend. Toluca comfortably won 2-0 against Chivas on the road, while Pumas suffered a heavy 3-0 loss at home to Pachuca. Toluca won the last matchup 3-2 in March, and Pumas have not won against the Diablos Rojos since March 2024.
