After a poor performance in the 2026 World Cup, Carlo Ancelotti has announced a revamped, youthful Brazil squad for the upcoming friendlies against Australia and India.
With a focus on the new cycle preparing for the 2028 Copa America and the 2030 World Cup, Ancelotti dropped many veteran names while adding new young talent to the mix. The most notable omissions include Allison Becker, Casemiro, Fabinho, and the now internationally retired Neymar.

Defenders: Arthur Dias (Athletico Paranaense), Wesley (Roma), Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain), Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal), Douglas Santos (Zenit St. Petersburg), Jair (Nottingham Forest), Matheuzinho (Corinthians), Maurio Júnior (PSV Eindhoven), Vitor Reis (Manchester City).

The big changes to Ancelotti’s squad
One of the biggest notable changes to Ancelotti’s squad is the goalkeeping changes. Allison, Ederson, and Weverton have all been omitted from the squad following their role in the 2026 World Cup. While many expect that Allison and possibly Ederson will still play a role under Ancelotti in future windows, it is clear that the Brazil manager plans to test out new young goalkeepers in this cycle.
Including the three goalkeepers selected, Ancelotti selected ten players from the Brazilian domestic league to play for the national team.

The veteran core returns with some young names added to the mix
Despite a big change from the World Cup squad, Ancelotti established his vital core with the inclusions of Vinícius Júnior (26), Raphinha (29), Bruno Guimarães (28), and Marquinhos (32).
Chelsea’s Joao Pedro returns to the national team following his World Cup exclusion, while Jair Cunha of Nottingham Forest earns his first-ever senior call-up. Vitor Reis of Manchester City and Endrick of Real Madrid also have been called up despite their lack of minutes so far this season.
What’s on the horizon for Brazil?
Brazil will play a pair of friendlies against Australia (Sep. 25 and Sep. 29) before closing the international break vs. India on October 3rd. For the next international window in November, Brazil will face Japan (Nov. 14) and Singapore (Nov. 17).
