Phil Foden has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until 2030. Born in Stockport, Foden joined Man City’s academy at just 9 years old and made his senior debut in 2017 under Pep Guardiola.
With City, Foden has scored 110 goals in 369 games for the club. In total, he has won 20 trophies with City, including six Premier League titles, five League Cups, three FA Cups, three Community Shields, a Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.
Phil Foden enjoyed his best season with the club during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 19 league goals and providing 8 league assists. His outstanding performances helped Manchester City win the league, and he was honored with several prestigious awards, including PFA Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, and Premier League Player of the Season.
In the following two seasons, Foden found it challenging to regain his elite form, but he will be hoping that under Maresca, he can bounce back to his best self. After not making the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, Foden had a full summer to work on his game and regain fitness.
“Committing my future to City means everything to me. Playing for this Club is all I’ve ever wanted to do, and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt. It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more,” said Foden.
With a new contract and manager, Foden knows this is a big opportunity for him and the club.
“I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season – someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting. Personally, I know I’ve improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad, and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great Club.”
Manchester City’s first preseason match takes place on Saturday, July 1, vs. Inter Milan at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.
