The Mexican National Team is turning the page after its run in the 2026 World Cup and is already preparing for the start of a new chapter.
After being eliminated in the Round of 16 following a loss to England, the Mexican coaching staff is taking a new direction with the highly anticipated debut of Rafael Márquez as head coach, having already confirmed its first four friendly matches for the FIFA dates in September and October.
According to TUDN journalist Gibrán Araige, the “Kaiser’s” era will kick off with a high-level test against three South American teams and the region’s archrival. Although two of these opponents failed to qualify for the last World Cup, the competitive level will serve as a demanding barometer for Márquez’s debut on the bench.

- September 26: Mexico vs. Colombia (Baltimore)
- September 29: Mexico vs. Peru (New Jersey)
- October 3: Mexico vs. United States (Phoenix)
- October 6: Mexico vs. Chile (Rose Bowl, Pasadena)
Rafa Márquez’s debut will make for a busy schedule for Mexican soccer, as international play will overlap with Matchdays 10 and 11 of the 2026 Liga MX Apertura, right before major showdowns in the domestic league such as Atlas vs. Chivas and Pumas vs. Cruz Azul.
